Red chutney



Ingredients


  • ·          4 to 5 Kashmiri red chilli
  • ·          5 garlic cloves
  • ·          Tamarind half the size of lemon
  • ·          2 tablespoon roasted chana dal
  • ·          ¼ cup chopped onions.


Method


  • Soak the red chillies in hot water for about 40 minutes.  Please take care that not all chillies are alike as they vary in the amount of heat.  So it is advised that you adjust the chilli according to your heat preference
  • If you like the chutney to be spicy then replace two Kashmiri chilli with a spicier variety. 
  • Sauté the onion and garlic in a pan with a drop of oil.  Transfer the same to a mixer jar and allow it to cool.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients that is the chilli, roasted chana dal, tamarind, and salt as required.
  • Grind the ingredients to paste slightly thick or medium consistency depending on what we are going to use it for.
  • Remove the chutney in a bowl.
  • Now the chutney is ready to use.
